Muralist Project a Reality – ‘Dove Fiorisce il Rosmarino’ – Where the Rosemary Flowers.
World acclaimed muralist Giorgio Polo, has arrived in Melbourne.
Giorgio was born in Cagliari and is noted for his ability to work with local communities particularly young people in the realization of his projects.
The Project, ‘Dove fiorisce il Rosmarino’ – where the rosemary flowers, is an initiative of the Sardinian Cultural Association with the assistance of former Italian Consulate, Melbourne, Project Officer, Renzo Sabattini, was proposed to the Autonomous Region of Sardinia in 2006 and funding was approved in late 2008.
The SCA has received the generous support of Banyule Council, the Italian Institute of Culture and Mia Mia Aboriginal Art Gallery.
Students from the Marcellin College in Bulleen and some local indigenous artists assisted Giorgio with the mural.
The official launching of the Project was on 16 March, 2009. The unveiling of the mural took place on 6 April, 2009.
