The Sardinian Cultural Association (SCA) was founded in 1987 and since 1988 has been officially recognized by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (RAS), from which it receives annual funding and funding for Special Projects.

The SCA acknowledges that we live, work and play on the land of the Aboriginal people, who were the original custodians of this land called Australia, which is now our home. More specifically our Clubrooms are in what is widely recognised as the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, who were the traditional owners. We of the SCA are extremely proud for being the only Association, Group, Social Club or Government Institution in the Italian community, who has a long standing binding relationship of common trust with members of the Aboriginal community in Victoria

The SCA recognizes and acknowledges the valuable contribution of the various committees and members of the Sardinian Club and the Sardinian Social Club, both entities which preceded the formation of the SCA.

Currently the SCA has a base of around 300 Members, 'simpatizzanti' and 'Next Generation' members and calls Australia 'home' whilst at the same time being extremely proud of its Sardinian heritage. Functions organized vary from traditional 'casalinga' style lunches and picnics to major activities such as gala evenings and cultural events. The SCA promotes its wide-ranging activities not only to the Sardinian community, but also to the mainstream Italian and Australian communities. Notable among our activities are the well-established scholarship grants set up with the Assisi Centre, the Italian Australian Institute and previously with Monash University.

Whilst not politically or religiously motivated, the SCA supports the positive values of the Australian multicultural model as well as having a strong relationship with the indigenous community and compassionate values directed at those less fortunate in society.

SCA also organizes activities directed at young people, pensioners and those with strong community values. The SCA thanks its members, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, local Italian and Australian authorities, as well as current and past Committee Members for their support.
